culturevulture.net's Ten Best Films of 2000

1999 was an outstanding year for new films. 2000 has heard a litany of complaints from all the critics about the repeatedly disappointing quality of films coming to market. Still, there are always gems amongst the dross. Here are our film critics picks for the best films they saw, limited to films that opened in the United States this year in a commercial engagement. (The consensus list has eleven titles due to a tie.)
While these lists may provide some guidelines for your choices of viewing, we intend them as no more than that and encourage you to explore the wide range of interesting and challenging films in the theaters and on video or DVD.

We have linked each film listed here to its review on our pages, when available. From there you will find links to the video if it has been released. Enjoy!
